Signup questions allow administrators to gather additional information from volunteers right at the point of signup.
To adjust your signup questions,
Click on the Opportunity
Go to Edit
Choose Preferences & reminders
Scroll to Ask volunteers for
Standard Signup Questions
Every signup form includes a few common questions automatically:
Name – required
Email – required
Cell Phone – optional
Comment (one per position, in every job) – optional
These fields help you stay in touch with volunteers and give them a place to share notes or details about their signup. For the optional fields, you can hide them by unchecking the box, or make them required using the dropdown.
Custom Signup Questions
Custom signup questions help you collect specific information from volunteers—anything from T-shirt size to meal preferences, or emergency contact details.
Customization Options
You can create multiple custom questions, each with a different answer format:
Text – Volunteers provide a short written response.
Dropdown (Single Answer) – Volunteers choose one answer from a list.
Checkbox (Multiple Answers) – Volunteers can select multiple options.
You can also allow each question to be optional or require an answer.
These options allow you to tailor your form to suit the needs of your event or ministry.
How It Works
Once a volunteer submits their form:
Admins receive an email that includes all of the volunteer’s responses to the signup questions.
Responses are available in the reporting pane, where you can export the answers for some or all volunteers in the schedule.
Editing Signup Questions
To edit a volunteer's responses to custom signup questions as an admin, go to the Volunteers tab for the opportunity the signup questions belong to, then click on the name of the volunteer whose responses you with to edit. A list of your custom signup questions will appear below the "Edit", "Compose", and "Delete" buttons for this volunteer. Click "Edit responses" to add or change information for this volunteer's signup questions:
