If you need the exact same volunteer spots or job roles open across multiple time slots every day, you don't need to manually create each shift from scratch. Unison has a smart duplication feature that recognizes your scheduling pattern and does the heavy lifting for you.
Here is a quick, step-by-step guide to setting up identical multi-shift schedules in minutes.
Step 1: Create Your First Shift
Start by building the template shift for your recurring schedule.
- Create the Shift: Build your first shift of the day (e.g., 12:00 AM – 1:00 AM for Adoration, or an early morning shift for an event).
Add Your Roles: Add all the jobs needed for the shift and set how many you need of each.
Set the Repeat Pattern (Optional): If you need this schedule to run every day (or specific days of the week), set the shift to repeat weekly or daily for your desired timeframe.
Step 2: Duplicate the shift
Now that your base shift exists with all its roles, you'll teach Unison the time interval you want to follow.
Click Duplicate on the shift you just created.
Adjust the Start Time to match the next shift you need (e.g., change
12:00 AMto1:00 AM).
Why this matters: By creating a 12:00 AM shift and then a 1:00 AM shift, you’ve told Unison that your shifts run in 1-hour increments.Click Duplicate to additional date/time on your newest shift. Unison will automatically detect the pattern (e.g., adding 1 hour to each subsequent shift) and suggest the next logical time slot.
Keep duplicating until you’ve populated all the time slots you need for the day (all the way through to 11:00 PM – 12:00 AM).
